HUMANOID NON HUMAN question

Sam here being that nerd with the not-really-human character. I'm considering this boy in the future, and wanted to ask about how he'd match physiologically. D&D is vague about the appearance of tritons ( basically mer-people ), but this has been the interpretation I've been going with. Little side-fins around the ears, some scaled parts, light blue skin, and gills along the ribs. As a whole, the only physical benefits from this the species get is the ability to breathe underwater and increased resistance to cold and pressurized settings like deep underwater. I assume that bit will be nerfed to normal human stuff, but would the physiological elements be replicated or need to be bought with AC rewards?

Thank you!
